Ireland. Our aims are to promote creative activity within the public realm and to address contemporary cultural issues through initiating alternative urban events in the city, Nothern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The proposal for Non-Site Specific wishes to transport 5 displaced artists in an attempt to map their individual experiences and understandings of Belfast & Ireland onto a non-site specific. Occupying the peripheral - Description: Slide images from Belfast and Northern Ireland will be projected and physically traced onto peripheral spaces around the event. Multiple tracings will accumulate in layers on given surfaces during the periods of activity. The tracings remain at the end of the performance as a record of the event. Spoken word dialogue will be recorded and re-recorded, (layered) as accumulated narrative throughout the performance. The words and sounds intermingle with and give information to the images and actions being traced onto the surfaces of the spaces. The performance will be relayed via live video link-up in the main exhibition area. Concept: A visual and oral dialogue will attempt to build a discussion narrative towards understanding our individual experiences of life and living in Northern Ireland. We are under continual bombardment with contrasting images, conflicting ideas; traditions and cultures. With this project we wish to exist in the peripheral; to remain non site specific, to come to terms with inherent individuality and to understand the experiences of the places we exist in. Urban Canvas ist eine interdisziplinaere Kuenstlergruppe aus Belfast, Nordirland. Unser Ziel ist es, kreative Aktivitaeten im oeffentlichen Raum zu foerdern und zeitgemaesse kulturelle Fragen durch alternative Aktionen in der Stadt, Nordirland und der Republik Irland anzusprechen. Non-Site-Specific moechte 5 versprengte Kuenstler zusammenbringen, mit dem Versuch ihre individuelle Erfahrung und Sicht von Belfast und Nordirland auf die "Ortsunabhaengigkeit" abzubilden. "Occupying the peripheral" - Beschreibung: Diabilder von Belfast und Nordirland werden projiziert und in dem die Aktion umgebenden Raum nachgezeichnet. Waehrend des Geschehens haeufen sich die verschiedenen Schichten der Zeichnungsspuren auf den schon vorhandenen Oberflaechen. Diese Spuren bleiben am Ende der Performance als Dokument der Aktion zurueck. Gesprochene Dialoge werden wieder und wieder aufgenommen und als angehaeufte Erzaehlung waehrend der ganzen Performance geschichtet. Worte und Klaenge vermischen sich mit der Handlung und den Bildern, die auf den Flaechen des Raumes nachgezeichnet werden. Die Performance wird mittels Video-Liveschaltung im Hauptbereich der Ausstellung wiedergegeben. Konzept: In einem visuellen und muendlichen Dialog wird erzaehlerisch versucht, das Verstaendnis unserer individuellen Lebenserfahrung und dem Leben in Nordirland zu eroertern. Wir sind bestaendigem Beschuss gegensaetzlicher Bilder, zwiespaeltiger Vorstellungen, Traditionen und Kulturen ausgesetzt. Mit diesem Projekt beabsichtigen wir in der Peripherie zu bestehen, ortsunabhaengig zu bleiben, mit der dazugehoerigen Individualitaet zurechtzukommen und die Erfahrungen der Orte, an denen wir sind, zu verstehen. | |
